Under the direction of the Manager of Security Engineering, the Security Engineer is a security focused technology leader who selects, configures, and implements security controls to reduce information security risk in the organization. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with KnitWell Group’s corporate information security policies and enforcing implementation of KnitWell Group’s security architecture. This includes safeguarding the security of all computing platforms, data, and networking within the corporation, oversight of the security configuration, and monitoring.
The impact you can have
- Design, implement and configure security applications and infrastructure to support corporate policies, federal and state security regulations.
- Be an information security Subject Matter Expert; lead application and system development teams to configure and deploy systems and applications in a secure manner, including familiarity with Cloud implementations of applications and infrastructure.
- Design, plan, and conduct infrastructure security assessments of all layers of the information system including networking, servers, operating systems, databases and applications.
- Understand a secure network infrastructure including the design of network segmentation, firewall policies, and configuration of security devices.
- Perform security baseline discovery of current infrastructure and identification of gaps between existing procedures, policy, and industry standards/best practices.
- Research and identify industry information security best practices and develop an action plan for executing changes as needed to enhance system security and ensure the integrity of the KnitWell Group’s infrastructure.
- Serve as a technical Team Lead on security projects.
- Prepares deployment and post deployment plans to support the conversion and deployment of the security solution.
- All other security engineering duties as assigned.
You’ll bring to the role
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical & Computer Engineering or other related engineering discipline preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years in information security, with emphasis on security engineering.
- CISSP or GIAC certification desirable, other industry security certifications a plus.
- Risk Assessment experience; knowledge of IT risk management concepts such as risk assessment, risk identification, risk response and mitigation, risk monitoring and reporting etc.
- Experience in Cloud computing.
- Understanding of industry accepted framework, such as the NIST SP800 framework.
- Hands-on experience not only in assessing complex networks and systems, but also in leading the design and configuration of complex security controls.

This position works in a hybrid model, with 2 days per week worked in the Etna, OH location and 3 days per week worked remotely.
