Accounting Manager
About the role
The Accounting Manager will supervise and accounting staff member and work directly with the Brand Controller with regular interaction with FP&A and the SVP of Finance. This position will manage various accounting functions that are responsible for the application of GAAP on moderate and complex business issues during the monthly close and reconciliation process. The position will also be responsible for providing adaptable assistance across the finance department to support the business community and various needs within the organization. This role will allow an individual to utilize their accounting skills in a stimulating environment while gaining great experience and exposure across the finance team.
The impact you can have
- Manage a team responsible for aspects of the month-end close process related to sales and inventory reserves, and review month-end closing activities such as balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
- Work directly with the FP&A team to forecast and budget the income statement impact of sales and inventory reserves.
- Ensure that all systems changes and/or modifications made to applications conform to departmental processing and control requirements.
- Work independently on special projects and their impact to the Company including moderate-to-complex technical accounting transactions and implementation of new systems.
- Produce meaningful and insightful analysis using data from financial systems to assist peers to understand the business problem presented.
- Coordinate and assist with external auditors.
You’ll bring to the role
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 5-8 years of progressive industry, or public accounting experience with CPA/MBA preferred
- Hands-on experience with ERP Systems (Oracle, preferred) and proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Aptitude for learning new systems
- Well-developed interpersonal and leadership skills
- Comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong managerial and organizational skills are essential
- Ability to work independently and efficiently while maintaining upward communication

This position works on-site in our Talbots home office at our Hingham (MA) location.
