About the role
This role is an integral part of the Strategic Procurement team, responsible for managing Talbots' store supplies program and supporting corporate blanket and purchase order creations.

The impact you can have

  • Identify and procure all necessary supplies and inventory items needed for a retail store's operations, including office supplies, cleaning materials, packaging, and other non-merchandise goods. 
  • Ensure timely delivery while adhering to budget constraints and company policies; essentially managing the purchasing process for all non-merchandise items required to run the store smoothly. 
  • Partner with vendors, internal departments, and stakeholders to drive cost-effective procurement while upholding quality and compliance standards.
  • Foster collaboration with internal stakeholders to understand business needs, develop project plans, and manage procurement activities efficiently.
  • This role presents an exciting opportunity to enhance procurement operations, optimize inventory management, and leverage data analytics to drive strategic, informed decision-making.

Store Purchasing Management

  • Maintains and produces documentation of requisitions, purchase orders, quotes, supplies and product specifications, pricing, units of measure, performance terms, contracts, suppliers, manufacturers and other pertinent information
  • Prepares and issues purchase orders from purchase requests
  • Confirms order with vendors and internal customers, and follow through to assure timely, accurate and complete deliveries; resolve discrepancies
  • Research requested products and services; interact with internal and external customers responding to requests
  • Work closely with internal partners and Store Operations to monitor inventory levels and manage supply reordering as needed
  • Communicates with vendors to verify or gather product and service details, including price, availability, and delivery information
  • Negotiates best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements
  • Reconciles invoices to receivers and purchase orders, resolving any issues with vendors to ensure invoices submitted for payment are accurate

Corporate Support

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders for blanket and purchase order needs
  • Create and issue purchase orders based on requisitions

Sourcing

  • Partner with Procurement SRM team and internal stakeholders for sourcing activities
  • Evaluate / Provide Recommendations with vendors for determining their capability for performing to established specifications

Reporting

  • Prepare reports on procurement activities, cost analysis, and supplier performance.
  • Review annual blanket/purchase order needs
  • Oracle usage reporting
  • Accounting for prepaid reporting

General

  • Maintain item master for Oracle and 3rd party vendor site.
  • Analyze spending patterns and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Identifies and implements process improvements to maximize efficiencies and improve service

You’ll bring to the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 4 years of procurement experience preferred
  • Hands-on experience and proficiency with Oracle financial systems and/or SAP
  • Strong understanding of purchasing concepts, principles, and techniques
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent customer service skills with a team-oriented mindset
  • Effectively multitask and adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment while prioritizing tasks and managing workload efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally at all levels
  • Maintain a consistently professional demeanor and appearance, demonstrating integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism
  • Self-motivated, independent, and capable of managing responsibilities efficiently
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational skills

  • The target salary range for this role is: $70k - $80k
