About the role
The Senior Accountant – Fixed Assets is primarily responsible for the accounting accuracy of fixed assets within the Company’s financial statements as well as the preparation of various schedules, reconciliations, and account variance analyses relating to the monthly closing process. Additionally, the Senior Accountant prepares various management reports including various explanations utilized by Senior Finance Management.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the fixed asset system, including recording of asset acquisitions, disposals and depreciation in a timely matter.
- Responsible for providing timely and accurate monthly account analyses, reconciliations and journal entry preparation.
- Review and process capital project requisitions.
- Review and process Prepaid Software and POS, CIP and Capital Labor.
- Review and process monthly accruals, coding requests, and posting errors
- Manage ad hoc reporting requests.
- Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations.
- Research certain technical accounting issues as they relate to the current role and develop process improvement efficiencies in the department.
- Responsible for preparing and updating a Balance Sheet and Income Statement budget and forecast for all accounts relating to the fixed assets and relevant accounting adjustments.
- Maintain processes and procedures to ensure adherence to fixed asset and other corporate accounting policies.
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with other departments to facilitate information sharing and adjusting to business changes.
- Serve as a technical resource to other departments and management.
- Regular interaction with various departments including Corporate Finance & FP&A; Real Estate Finance & Store Development; Store Operations; Corporate/Store Facilities Management; Accounts Payable; Procurement; IT Finance & Project Management; internal & external Tax & Audit partners
- Develop an understanding of Accounting’s workflow processes and the interdependency between other Departments in meeting monthly closing goals. Also develop a working relationship with the other brands to facilitate information sharing and to understand who our internal customers are and what their needs are.
- Work on special projects independently and as part of a team, meet deadlines and present results to management.
- Perform duties with a process improvement and customer service mentality.
- Develop a continuous level of proficiency with a financial and information systems as they relate to the department.
- Assist with record retention and organization of the Accounting Department.
- Assist with Audit Requests from independent auditors.

You’ll bring to the role
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 2-3 years accounting experience
- Basic knowledge of GAAP
- Proficiency with MS Office applications, specifically Excel
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to accept and adapt to a changing environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience with SAP and Hyperion
- Experience with Oracle

- The target salary range for this role is: $70,000 – 85,000*

This position works on-site at least 4 days per week consistent with the needs of the business at our Talbots office location in Hingham, MA.
