Sr. Accounting Analyst

About the role

The Senior Accounting Analyst will work directly with a broad base of managers in the finance department to assist with such activities as data analysis, application of GAAP to moderate and complex business issues, month-end reconciliations and preparation of journal entries. The analyst will ensure that controls and procedures are adhered to while also being called up to provide creative suggestions for process improvement. The analyst will be responsible for providing adaptable assistance across the finance department to support the business community and various needs within the organization. This role will allow an individual to utilize their accounting skills in a stimulating environment while gaining great experience and exposure across the finance team.

The impact you can have

  • Reconcile activity from financial systems to the general ledger and other applications

  • Responsible for various month end close activities including reconciling balance sheet accounts and preparing journal entries

  • Ensure that all systems changes and/or modifications made to applications conform to departmental processing and control requirements

  • Work independently on special projects including research and analyze moderate to complex technical accounting transactions

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial budgets in accordance with our established schedule and with inputs from the finance department

  • Produce meaningful and insightful analysis using data from financial systems to assist peers with understanding the business problem presented

  • Assist with preparation of the financial statements and related notes

  • Ensure necessary documentation is compiled and accessible to external and internal auditors

  • Support all levels of management satisfying their needs for information, analysis, systems support and responses to accounting inquiries

You’ll bring to the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

  • 4-5 years of progressive industry, or public accounting experience with CPA/MBA preferred

  • Hands-on experience with ERP Systems (Oracle, preferred) and proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Aptitude for learning new systems

  • Well-developed interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day to day activities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • The target salary range for this role is: $80,000 – 90,000*

*Any job offer will consider factors such your qualifications, relevant experience, and skills. Eligibility of certain benefits and associate programs are subject to employment type and role.

This position works on-site at least 4 days per week consistent with the needs of the business at our Talbots office location in Hingham, MA
