The Merchant is responsible for meeting planned sales, margin, and inventory management goals for their designated area through focused merchandise assortments, and sound business management while enhancing the overall department, division, and company strategy. This position works closely with merchandising leadership, MP&A team, design / TD, sourcing team, site, stores, and marketing team to deliver client centric assortments from concept to customer.

- Supports the development of the strategic vision of department integrating customer insight, competitive information, market intelligence, sales, fashion trends, fashion intuition and product distortion to maximize sales and profit.
- Leads and creates a balanced line plan that integrates fashion, client insights, fit, pricing pyramids and tiered strategies to the cross functional team.
- Develops customer driven assortments that support departmental goals and design concept.
- Ensures merchandise mix balances quantity, style, size, price, and fashion consistent with the company and individual department insights.
- In season, reacts to current business trends swiftly and with a sense of ownership; ensures the execution of fashion newness, develops upside strategies, recognizes product evolution and potential voids; prepares contingency plans to drive sales and mitigate risk.
- Understands the customer, researches and anticipates what the customer wants next; uses information from store visits and trend resources in decision making and planning process.
- Synthesizes intelligence (customer/market/competitors) and determines its relevancy to Cacique brand strategy. Applies insights in the short and long term.
- Drives superior performance by reviewing business in-season to maximize sales and margin; drives the in-season management of sales and margin in partnership with Senior Merchant and MP&A Teams.
- Leader amongst peers. Leads by example by inspiring passion and innovative thinking while fostering teamwork and collaboration with cross functional partners. Lives the values of the brand
You’ll bring to the role
- 5-7 years experience in merchandising position for a leading retailer.
- Demonstrates strong analytical skills and superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong TEAM builder who can execute effective conflict resolution.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Prior experience with flexPLM, RMS and Microstrategy is preferred.
