This position is responsible for the creation of original product design through vision and AI illustration of design concepts and artwork into clothing appropriate for our customer.

The target salary range for this role is:

$65,000 - $75,000

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in identifying seasonal fashion direction, assortment opportunities, and merchandise trends for area of responsibility

  • Serve as liaison between Design, Product Development, Technical Design, and Merchandising to ensure information flow is accurate throughout the development process

  • Responsible for technical package process, to include drawings, artwork packages, measurements, design detail specifications, and design detail specifications and hand off to Technical Design

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the line (silhouettes, yarns, and design details) and is responsible for tracking changes/additions

  • Assist in creating and maintaining knitdown requests, sketch boards, technical package adjustments, and fabric/stitch library

  • Assist during fit sessions, take notes, and update sketches as needed.

  • Participate in concept presentation and line building recaps, in addition to line presentation

  • Research competitive market and present results and ideas

  • Assist in executing designs to the Conceptual Assortment Plan slots while staying within the pre-determined development ratios

  • Continue to develop and increase understanding of Talbot’s customer

  • People Management

    • Build collaborative relationships with vendors and cross functional partners

    • Interface professionally and work effectively in group settings

  • Key partners include Product Development, Fabric R&D, CAD/Print teams, Technical Design, Merchandising, and Vendors

Who You Are:

  • Knowledge and experience at a level normally acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree

  • 3-5 years of related experience

  • Must have experience in machine knit sweater category with technical knowledge of gauge, yarn count, stitch and jacquard constructions

  • Independent, self-motivated, and detail oriented.

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be highly organized

  • Able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced office environment

  • Must be highly collaborative in a team environment

  • Strong work ethic and follow-through

  • Strong computer skills especially Adobe Illustrator as well as Photoshop and Microsoft Office

  • Working experience using MS Teams and PLM, a plus
