About the role

This position is responsible for the design, development, and concept of T by Talbots from concept through tech packing in partnership with the Design Director, Technical Design, and Sourcing. The core categories of internal design and development are loungewear, Active, and cut & sew knitwear.

The impact you can have

  • Research global, domestic and competitive markets to identify new trends, fabrics, and techniques helping to build out seasonal concept and color

  • Responsible for technical package process, to include drawings, measurements and design detail specifications and prepare for hand off to Technical Design

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the line (silhouettes, yarns/fabrics and design details) and is responsible for tracking changes/additions

  • Own and maintain specification sheets, trim sheets, and pitch sheets

  • Oversee the creation of Design Presentation Boards

  • Research competitive market and present results and ideas

  • Key partners include Merchandising, Product Development/Sourcing, Technical Design, and Vendors

You’ll bring to the role

  • Knowledge and experience at a level normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree

  • 8+ years of related experience. Knowledge of Activewear a must.

  • Independent, self-motivated, and detail-oriented

  • Superior sketching ability with strong Illustrator skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be highly organized

  • Able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced office environment

  • Must be highly collaborative in a team environment

  • Strong work ethic

  • Proficient with computer programs including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office, PLM.

  • Experience using Microsoft Teams and Miro boards a plus.

  • The target salary range for this role is: $90,000 - $100,000

*Any job offer will consider factors such your qualifications, relevant experience, and skills. Eligibility of certain benefits and associate programs are subject to employment type and role.

  • On-site: This position works on-site at least 4 days per week consistent with the needs of the business at our Talbots office location in New York, NY.
