The Information Security Vulnerability intern provides advice and expertise to IT staff and other departments related to information security issues. The intern uses sources both internal and external to identify and assess potential threats to the security of KnitWell Group's data and information assets. They assist and advise other in the organization and provide critical thinking to successfully identify strategies to remediate and/or mitigate identified threats. The Information Security Vulnerability intern reports to the Director, Security Operations.
Internship Details
- Evaluates the threat landscape and conducts vulnerability analysis on emerging risks to the organization.
- Discovers, evaluates, and provides intelligence information relevant to the KnitWell environment.
- Uses known vulnerabilities at KnitWell Group to produce recommendations for mitigation and/or remediation.
- Monitors security tools and alerts to identify potential threats.
- Participates in the collection of logs, documents, and other resources required for security review.
- Monitors third party products and vendors to identify emerging threats and vulnerabilities associated with those technologies and/or vendors
- Participates in the creation and upkeep of information security processes and documentation
- Other duties assigned as needed.
Internship Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in progress, emphasis in Cyber Security or Information Security preferred.
- General IT experience required (System Admin, network admin, etc.)
- Knowledge of security threat analysis and response.
- Knowledge of information security principles and practices to include, but not limited to, the following areas: Vulnerability Scanning, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), NG Firewall, NGAV, Encryption, Host Based Security, Data Loss Prevention, Malware Prevention.
- Intellectually curious team player with a genuine passion for finding, understanding, and mitigating cyber threats.
- Ability to distill complex problems into manageable tasks and then drive those tasks to completion.
- Ability to research and apply general understanding to retail threat intelligence gathering.
- Analytical, research and problem-solving abilities required.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
- Highly self-motivated individual with keen attention to detail
Program Details
- The KnitWell Group Summer Internship Program welcomes the classes of 2025 and 2026 college students to work with several of our brands (Ann Taylor, Lane Bryant, LOFT, Talbots) and Corporate Shared Services to kick-start their career in retail. This immersive experience offers interns the opportunity to work hands-on with their department for 10-weeks and receive professional development opportunities including executive chats, professional workshops, store visits, etc., and participation in a collaborative team project.
- The pay rate for the position is $20.00/hr.
- KnitWell Group does not offer housing near any of our corporate office locations. Participating students must have the ability to independently secure and finance housing in a commutable distance of the office location.
