Talbots' Training Store Managers: Talking growth and mentorship with Jennifer V.

Training has always been a core part of Talbots' culture. Today, we're launching a series to spotlight a few of the Training Store Managers of Talbots. These managers are influential leaders who coach and develop new Store Managers.

Training Store Managers are on a mission to support the learning journey of new Store Managers as an assigned peer coach. That means acting as a resource to ensure new managers have access to the partners, information, tools, and resources needed to succeed in their role. Training Store Managers serve in this role in addition to their existing Store Manager responsibilities.

Meet Jennifer, one of our new Training Store Managers based in New York. She shares how Talbots' culture of growth and support has fueled her journey. Her dedication to future leaders and serving as a brand ambassador shines through every day.

Q & A

How did you start at Talbots?

I originally joined Talbots in 2011 as an Assistant Sales Manager at the Short Hills Mall. During that time, I was able to truly develop my skills with styling, talent, and relationship building. A year later, I was promoted to our newest concept store at Garden State Plaza. Less than a year later, I was able to step up and take on our North Brunswick, NJ store as a Store Manager. During this time, I participated in mentoring, market responsibilities during the holiday in our Boston market, and trunk shows. The next step for me was to take on our Bridgewater location as the Store Manager where this was my last position before stepping away from the business knowing that I would be back eventually.

Fast forward to August 2023, I rejoined and came back home. I restarted my journey at the Chimney Rock location and shortly after the Morristown location. During my current journey, I've had the pleasure to take on the next steps in my career as a Training Store Manager for Haven Well Within as well as a Talent Scout for NY/NJ/CT markets. The Talent Scout role enables me to serve as a subject matter expert on tools and resources for talent attraction at the district-level.

Tell us about your role as a Training Store Manager.

I'm super excited about this new journey as a Training Store Manager for Haven Well Within in New York. I'll be supporting mentorship, onboarding, learning materials, and being a true brand ambassador!

How did you discover your love of training?

I discovered my love for training through mentorship. Having the ability to watch someone grow in their role and strive for their full potential, who then will impact and influence others, is truly what fulfills me.

Did you know? In November 2025, Haven Well Within celebrated the grand opening of its first permanent retail store – a serene 1,774-square foot space that embodies the brand’s mission to help women create a haven at home – a place to unwind, recharge and nurture every part of themselves.

What aspect of the culture at Talbots resonates most with you?

It's the relationships at Talbots that truly inspires me to be the best version of myself for my team, for our customer, and for future generations to come.

What’s a project you’re currently working on?

My latest project that I'm super excited to be working on is our first Haven Well Within location. I'll be a part of growing our brand and immersing myself in the wellness community. I'm excited to truly embody "a daily dose of good" as we like to say at Haven.

What are you looking forward to in your future with us?

I'm truly looking forward to always remaining a student no matter where my career at Talbots takes me. As I continue to grow with the brand, I'm so energized to be able to have a larger influence across our brands!
